Our Vision: Daring to Embody the Gospel
We strive to be a worshipping community empowered through God's Word and
Sacrament. Trusting God before us, we accept the challenge to move
from fear to faith. United in Jesus Christ, we value, affirm and
invite diversity in our midst. We risk showing mercy and love in our
community of faith and in the world.
Our Mission Statement
COMMUNITY
We
are a community of diverse persons living within God’s creation, redeemed
by Christ and led by the Holy Spirit.
STEWARDS
In Baptism, we have been chosen to
be God’s stewards in the world.
EMPOWERED
Nurtured and empowered by God’s Word and
Sacrament, we are committed to be proclaimers of the Gospel as caretakers
of all creation.
SERVING
To this end, we strive to grow in and with our congregation in faith,
love, justice and service in our daily lives -- in relationship to all God
has entrusted to us: our environment, our local and global communities,
our families and ourselves.
Congregational Goals
Goal 1 (Community) Becoming an inclusive
community
We will create an atmosphere of openness, declare our
intent to seek, welcome and include all who wish to share our mission and
vision, learn to appreciate the richness diversity can bring, and fully
integrate all into the life of our congregation.
Goal 2 (Community) Building our
faith community
We will strengthen the bonds of our congregational
life, using shared experiences based on our oneness in faith, our
individual gifts and our caring spirit to create a true Body of Christ.
Goal 3 (Stewards) Accepting our
call to be God's stewards
We will identify and share our gifts from God,
recognizing that we are God's stewards at all times and in all places --
among family, friends, community and the world.
Goal 4 (Empowered) Making Worship
Central
Each time we gather, we do so as a worshipping
community; we will make God's Word and Sacrament the foundation of our
faith, minister to each other, and gain strength and energy for daily
ministry.
Goal 5 (Empowered) Becoming
Lifelong Learners
We will discover together the stories and lessons of
our Christian heritage and experience, grow in knowledge and understanding
of our faith, and apply what we learn to present-life experiences.
Goal 6 (Empowered) Proclaiming
the Gospel
We will be witnesses of God's Word through our
thoughts, words and actions, confident that lives of faith and service
will proclaim God's Good New to all people in all places.
Goal 7 (Serving) Taking our place
in God's creation
We will remember we are caretakers of all creation and
will work to live in harmony with God's natural world, nurturing,
protecting and restoring God's continuing creation.
Goal 8 (Serving) Risking ministry
within our global community
We will remember that we do not live in isolation from
the world and will work to understand and appreciate our brothers and
sisters in other cultures, celebrate our shared relationship with God,
recognize needs, and seize opportunities to minister and be ministered to.
Goal 9 (Serving) Risking ministry
with our local community
We will identify specific interests and abilities
within our congregation and apply them to the needs of our community as we
seek fellowship, share God's love, advocate for people and issues in need
of nonjudgmental ministry, and work for hope and justice.
Goal 10 (Serving) Supporting our
families and ourselves
We will create opportunities to mutually support one
another and to discover new understanding and insights together
emphasizing the following three areas:
- age-related ministry -- meeting the unique needs of
every age and stage of life;
- family ministry -- addressing the challenges of
living with diverse households;
- and in times of special need -- providing presence,
comfort and counsel.
